A robbery suspect has died following gunshot injuries he sustained after his armed robbery gang members engaged operatives of the Delta State Police Command in a gun duel.

The spokesman of the command, Bright Edafe disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday night on posted on the command’s Twitter handle.
Edafe said on January 26th, the DPO Ovwian Aladja received information that two members of a dreaded armed robbery/kidnapping gang were sighted at a club in Uru LGA.
According to him, the DPO CSP Aliyu Shaba swiftly mobilised and led police operatives, and stormed the club where one of the suspects was arrested.
“Suspect immediately confessed to being a member of an armed robbery/kidnapping gang,” the statement reads.
“He then led the operatives to their hideout in Udu where the police operatives were engaged in a serious gun duel by his gang members.
“During the gun duel, one of the suspects was neutralized by the operatives.
“The suspect arrested at the club was fatally wounded in the crossfire while other members of the gang escaped. One AK47 rifle and twenty-seven (27) rounds of 7.62 ammunition were recovered.
“The injured suspect gave up the ghost before he could get to the hospital. Manhunt for the other fleeing members of the gang is ongoing.”

In a related development, the police image maker disclosed that operatives of the raiders squad deployed to Oghara on directives of the CP, on January 29th, 2023, raided a suspected cultists hideout at the back of Oghara Grammar School and recovered one AK-47, one double barrel gun and cartridges
Meanwhile, Kanyi Daily reported that the Lagos State Police Command says it has arrested two men conveying vandalized railway tracks.
Spokesman of the Lagos state police command, Benjamin Hundeyin in a short tweet on his handle disclosed that the two men were intercepted at about 1 am on Monday in a Mitsubishi Lancer car by the command’s patrol team from Ijora Badia Division.
