A massive protest is currently ongoing in Benin City, Edo State over the hardship in the country.
Massive Protest In Benin City
This was disclosed in a short tweet by a media practitioner, Osazee Iyamu on his handle on Monday morning.
The protest, according to Iyamu is a result of the high cost of fuel.
He did not, however, reveal the area the protest is taking place in the city.
But various accounts on Twitter reveal the protests are taking place in Sapele road and other areas.
He wrote, “Massive protests going on in Benin City. People can’t take the hardship anymore.”
In an earlier tweet, he wrote, “They are buying fuel for N650/litre in Benin City. This is one of the craziest times I have seen happen in this country.”

Another Twitter user also confirmed the protest and shared a video from the protest.
In the 20-second video, the youths could be seen turning back a vehicle driven by men said to be soldiers.
He wrote, “There is a massive protest over spikes of up to N600 per litre for fuel in Benin city. Things shouldn’t get to this point before government acts. The hike in pump prices has crippled the economy and made life worse for every Nigerian. Effective distribution and monitoring needed!”
