Aminu Danmaliki, a 60-year-old man from Kano State, has broken his silence after being accused of marrying an 11-year-old girl.
Aminu Danmalika had come under fire after his wedding video went viral on social media with people claiming that he married an 11-year-old girl.
Reacting in a post on Facebook, the man said his wife is 21 years old and not a minor as being claimed on social media, stressing that she made her own choice and was never forced into the marriage.
Danmaliki said he and his wife initially decided to keep quiet on the matter, but that they were adviced to speak on the matter. He also appealed to netizens to allow he and his wife enjoy their honeymoon in peace.
He wrote: “My recent marriage with Sakina has generated a lot of tension and unfounded allegations that I married an underage girl, some suggesting she is 11 years old and that she was forced to marry me.
“That is untrue. The Wedding Video went viral. We decided to keep mute but was advised to state the true facts, here it is: My beloved wife is 21 years old she made her own choice of me as her husband and I loved her too.
“I hope the blackmailers and doubting Thomas’s will see the reality in this picture and leave us alone to enjoy our honeymoon.”
KanyiDaily had also reported how a 17-year-old girl, Aisha Bello died after setting herself ablaze for not marrying the man she loved in Gusau, Zamfara State.
This is a very sad situation, that a man his age would marry a young woman if I’m too believe is 21 and not 11 years old because she looks more like a 11 year old girl, more than 21 year old, my prayers goes up to her at this moment, 🙏🏿 sent up.
