Nigeria’s president-elect, Bola Tinubu has sympathized with the families of victims of the accident involving a train and BRT bus in Ikeja, Lagos State.
KanyiDaily had reported that six persons died and several others injured on Thursday morning after a train crashed a Lagos state government staff bus in the Shogunle area of Oshodi.
It was gathered that the bus was attempting to cross the rail track when the train coming from Abeokuta rammed into it and dragged the vehicle from Shogunle to the PWD area of Ikeja.
Two female staff of the state government died while other passengers who were injured in the accident were taken to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH).
Reacting in a statement by his media aide, Tunde Rahman on Thursday, Tinubu prayed for the repose of the souls of the deceased and promised to offer support to victims.
He said: “I offer my sincere condolences to the victims and families affected by the gory incident involving a train and a bus in the Ikeja area of Lagos State earlier today.
“I am praying for all, including those who died and those who sustained injuries in the tragic and unfortunate incident.
“My thoughts are with them and with the Lagos State Government, even as I continue to follow the emergency response efforts closely and offer support, where necessary, to ensure that survivors and others involved receive the best care,” he assured survivors.
KanyiDaily recalls that Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu had revealed that blood donors are needed for the victims while he called on residents to come to their aid.
