Governor Mai Mala Buni Wins Re-Election Bid In Yobe State

The Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni has won his re-election as governor of the North East state under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Mai Mala Buni won in all 17 local government areas of the state with a total of 317,113 votes.

The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Sharif Abdulahi, came a distant second with a total score of 104,259

Announcing the results at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) office in Damaturu, the Returning Officer for the Gubernatorial election in the state and who is also VC of the Federal University of Kashere, Gombe state, Prof. Umar Pate, said accredited voters are 459,492, valid votes 444,567 and total votes cast are 457,781.

Buni is a former caretaker chairman of the APC.

Meanwhile, Kanyi Daily reported that the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State, Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia is coasting to victory following his lead in the governorship race following results released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

INEC has so far released results for 11 out of the 23 local government areas in the state.
