The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Sheriff Oborevwori has been declared winner of the governorship election in Delta State.

Oborevwori defeated Ovie Omo-Agege, a candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the current Deputy President of the Nigerian Senate to be declared the winner of the election on Monday.

The returning officer of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Georgewill Owunari said the PDP candidate won the election after polling 360, 234 votes while Omo-Agege secured 240, 229 votes.

Oborevwori won 21 out of the 25 local government areas collated in the state, while Omo-Agege four local governments.

The number of accredited voters was put at 710, 829 while there were 671, 737 valid votes. The rejected votes were 15, 384 while the total votes cast were said to be 687, 121.

The governor-elect is the incumbent Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly as a representative of the Okpe State Constituency.

KanyiDaily recalls that the incumbent Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed has also been declared winner of the governorship election in the state.
