Nigerian musician and activist, Charly Boy has taken to social media to lambast a Nobel Laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka.
Soyinka has in the past few days criticized the vice presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmend, and the ‘Obidients’ describing them as ‘fascists’.
Charly Boy, who supported the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, took to his Twitter page to express his disappointment in Soyinka.
The musician said Soyinka had lost the kind of respect he had for his late father, Justice C.A. Oputa.
He slammed the renowned playwright for degrading himself to become a servant for criminal politicians, stressing that he can never be compared with the late novelist, Chinua Achebe.
“The kin respect I had for this ma, was almost the kind of respect I had for the late Justice C.A. Oputa, The Socrates of the Supreme Court. It has finally dawned on me that Soyinka can never be the man Chinua Achebe was.
“Look at a man many Nigerians put on such a high pedestal reducing himself to a boyiboyi for criminal politicians. What a fucking shame,” Charly Boy wrote.
