Controversial singer, Habeeb Okikiola popularly known as Portable, has revealed why he resisted arrest by police officers who visited his bar in Ogun State.
KanyiDaily recalls that Portable was seen in a video resisting attempts by the police to arrest him and also referred to himself as “a federal government liability”.
The singer claimed that an internet fraudster brought the police to his bar to arrest his staff members “for no reason”, but the police noted that it acted on a petition.
Portable was arrested on Friday, March 31, following the expiration of the 72-hour ultimatum given to him to honour police invitations extended to him five times.
It was also gathered that the singer will remain in police custody till Monday when he will be charged in court after spending three days in detention.
Police Interogates Portable
During questioning at the Ogun State Police headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta, the singer was seen in a video trying to defend his actions.
Portable claimed that he was unaware that the men who raided his bar in the Sango Ota area on Tuesday to arrest him were police officers.
“I didn’t know the people that came to my bar were police officers,” he said while standing before a police chief, in Yoruba language.
Attempts by newsmen to interview him after his interrogation failed as he was not willing to talk, but he was heard saying, “I was lured here. They want to kill me. What have I done? I never knew those people were police officer.”
