The Nasarawa State Police Command says it has arrested a Kuje prison escapee, who fled the facility during last year’s attack on the Correctional Centre in Abuja.
The spokesman of the Nasarawa state police, Ramhan Nansel, disclosed this in a statement issued on Sunday.
He gave the name of the escapee inmate as 24-year-old Salisu Buhari, a native of Nasarawa State.
The command, according to the statement also arrested a 27-year-old Zubairu Ali during a sting in the Nasarawa Local Government Area of the state.
According to the statement, the duo was arrested last Thursday for motorcycle theft.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects are responsible for most motorcycle snatching and theft in Nasarawa LGA and its environs.
“Upon interrogation, Salisu Buhari confessed to having escaped from Kuje Prison when the facility was attacked last year, linked up with his crony, and went into the criminal venture,” the police spokesman said.
The police image maker quoted the state Commissioner of Police, Maiyaki Baba as ordering the transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Lafia, for an exhaustive investigation.
In other news, Kanyi Daily reported that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Sunday, said it is not recruiting at the moment.
The EFCC made the rebuttal in a terse statement issued by its Spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren.
