Why I Stayed In My First Marriage Despite Being Abused On My Wedding Night – Foluke Daramola

KanyiDaily recalls that Foluke Daramola had recently revealed that she saw red flags before she married her first husband, but ignored them because her friends were rushing her into marriage.

The actress said that after she succumbed to peer pressure and got married, she got a broken sim on her wedding night because her ex-husband asked her to cut her sim.

During a recent interview with TVC, Foluke explained why she stayed in the abusive marriage for years despite being abused from when the marriage began.

The movie star, who is now married to a politician, Kayode Salako, said she chose to remain in her first marriage due to societal opinions and for her children.

Foluke disclosed she later realized that it was imperative for her to leave the marriage to ensure her own safety, stressing that some people didn’t support her decision, but she knew that if she stayed and died there, she would have been a forgotten case by now.

While she acknowledges that not everyone may agree with her choice, she is ready to stand by her truth rather than risk her life to prove something to society.

The actress said, “My first marriage, on the night of my wedding was when I noticed abuse. But because of what people will say… And God has already orchestrated it because my wonderful kids are from the marriage.

“When I finally decided to step out [of the marriage], people did not understand why I stepped out. But I understood that I needed to go. A lot of people did not receive it well, but if I hadn’t stepped out, if I had died there, by now I would have been a forgotten case.

“So, it is better for people not to accept my reality or my truth but I accept my own truth than for me to lose my life in the process of trying to prove to the world what I’m going through.”

KanyiDaily recalls that Foluke Daramola had recently denied claims by Nigerian singer, Yeni Kuti that she insulted her years ago.
