The Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Hon. Chinedum Orji has been impeached.

Hon. Orji was impeached by members of the assembly on Tuesday.

The motion for his impeachment was moved by a member representing Osisioma North Constituency Hon Kennedy Njoku.

The motion was seconded by Hon Chukwu Chijioke, a member representing Bende North State Constituency.

The speaker was impeached by 18 out of 27 members of the assembly.

Orji, son of the former governor of the state, Theodore Orji, lost the February 25 National Assembly poll for Ikwuano/Umuahia North/Umuahia South Federal Constituency.

According to reports, operatives of the Nigerian Police Force have taken over the entrance gate of the state assembly to prevent any possible breakdown of law and order.

In other news, Kanyi Daily reported that Nigerian singer, Habeeb Okikiola popularly known as Portable, has publicly begged music star Davido for a musical collaboration.

Portable took to his Instagram handle on Monday night to ask for a feature in his song and also shared a screenshot of his chat with Davido.
