Kunle Afolayan, producer of Anikulapo, and his crew received the prize at the ninth edition of the AMVCA on Saturday night.
Afolayan praised his mentor, Tunde Kelani, also known as Mainframe, during his speech at the ceremony.
“I want to thank the cast and crew Kunle Remi and co, MNET, and the AMVCA, and we promise to return next year,” he stated.
According to the Kanyidaily, the Nigeria Oscars selection committee removed ‘Anikulapo’ from the nomination list for the 2023 Academy Awards, often known as the Oscars, in October 2022.

The Committee stated that the film is ineligible to completely represent Nigeria and compete in the Oscars’ International Feature Film category.
In a social media post, Kunle Afolayan expressed his dissatisfaction, saying, “I am so pleased and delighted that the whole world has decided to tag ANIKULAPO movie a masterpiece even though the Oscar selection committee thinks it’s not worth submitting for the Award.” I’ll continue to do my own thing.”
