Outgoing Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the renaming of 15 airports after some prominent Nigerians.
The approval, according to a statement from the Ministry of Aviation signed by the Head of Press and Public Affairs, Odutayo Oluseyi, was given on Friday.
The 15 renamed airports are;
Akure International Airport now known as Olumuyiwa Bernard Aliu Airport.
Benin International Airport new name – Oba Akinzua ii airport.
Dutse International Airport renamed Muhammed Nuhu Sanusi Airport
Ebonyi International Airport now known as Okadigbo Chuba Wilberforce Airport
Gombe International Airport renamed Brigadier Zakari Maimalari airport.
Ibadan International Airport now called Samuel Ladoke Akintola airport
Ilorin International Airport now known as General Tunde Abdullahi Idiagbon airport
Kaduna International Airport will now be called General Hassan Usman Katsina airport
Maiduguri International Airport no known as Muhammadu Buhari Airport.
Makurdi International Airport renamed Joseph Sarwuan Tarka airport
Minna International Airport renamed Mall. Abubakar Imam airport
Nasarrawa International Airport renamed Sheikh Usman Danfodio airport
Osubi International Airport renamed Alfred Diete Spiff airport
Port Harcourt International Airport new name is now Obafemi Jeremiah Awolowo airport
Yola International Airport now known as Lamido Aliyu Mustapha Airport.
