The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi has urged Nigerians to support the incoming administration of Bola Tinubu.
KanyiDaily recalls that the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar and the Labour Party (LP) flagbearer, Peter Obi, are challenging Tinubu’s electoral victory in the February 25 presidential election.
Speaking on Monday while hosting a delegation from Kenyan President, William Ruto at his Lagos residence, Ooni asked Atiku, Obi, and their supporters to sheathe their swords and support Tinubu in the overall interest of the country.
He said all Nigerians, irrespective of party affiliations, should focus on putting the country on the right path to greatness as the election has come and gone.
The monarch said, “As the presidential inauguration approaches, I beseech you all, young and old, Obidients and Atikulates, hopeful and weary, amiable and passionate, to lay down your arms.
“There is no reason to waste time looking back; all we have is today and the future. Now is the time to embrace our diversity and uniqueness.
“We may differ in opinions and approaches to achieving a better Nigeria, but we all want a nation we can be proud of. Let us come together to support the vision of Asiwaju Gbogbo Ile Oodua.”
After meeting with the delegation, Tinubu said he was ready to partner with other business leaders in his quest to transform Nigeria’s economy.
The president-elect said one of his priorities has been to transition Nigeria from a consuming economy to producing one.
KanyiDaily recalls that yesterday, the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal (PEPT) adjourned Peter Obi’s petition challenging Bola Tinubu’s victory to tomorrow.
