Tech Guru, BLord Cries Out As Davido Demands $5m For One-Year Endorsement
Nigerian tech guru, Linus Williams, better known as BLord, was shocked after discovering the price tag attached to an endorsement deal with Afrobeats superstar, Davido.
In a now-deleted post via his Instagram page, BLord revealed that he had approached Davido with regards to a potential one-year endorsement deal for his innovative application.
According to BLord, he later received an email from Davido’s management team, disclosing an astonishing sum of $5 million (which is equivalent to N2.3 billion) for the endorsement.
The mail reads, “Re: Endorsement Deal Inquiry” reads “Hello Mr Williams, thank you for your email. Davido’s endorsement fee is $5m for a full calendar year and is subject to review at the end of the endorsement period. kindly let me know how you would like to proceed.”
The staggering cost left the tech guru and his team surprised, considering that their allotted budget for the endorsement stood at a mere $250,000, which roughly translates to N150 million in the local currency.
In light of the unexpected turn of events, BLord sought the opinion of the public on who could be signed to endorse the company with the allocated budget of $250,000.
The post read: “@billpoint.co drafted the sum of 150m naira which is equivalent to $205k to Bring davido as our Brand Ambassador As his the best man for the Job.
“We finally gave up when we got this response from his team , Who do you think we should sign to Billpoint family with $205k ? i nor know say na like endorsement deal dey cost o”
Linus Williams BLord is the founder and CEO of the BillPoint app. The app was launched in April 2023 and is designed to enable users to easily purchase affordable airtime, data, and pay bills for their electricity and cable TV. Since its launch, the app has gained significant traction.
KanyiDaily recalls that Davido recently revealed that at the age of 17, he landed a N20 million sponsorship agreement with a telecommunications company, MTN, despite having only two songs.
