Honourable Tajudeen Abass representing Zaria Federal Constituency of Kaduna State has been elected as the Speaker of the 10th House of Representatives.
Abass beat his closest rivals, Ahmed Wase, the immediate past deputy speaker in the Green Chambers, and Hon. Aminu Gadji in the open ballot system of voting that was adopted.
He polled 353 votes to defeat his two rivals who scored 3 votes each.
Honourable Benjamin Okezie Kalu from Abia State, representing Bende Federal Constituency was nominated and declared Deputy Speaker of the House.
Clerk of the National Assembly, Sani Magaji Tambuwal administered the Oath of Office and Oath of Allegiance to the speaker and his deputy.
Meanwhile, Kanyi Daily reported that Senator Godswill Akpabio from Akwa Ibom and the senator representing Kano South, Jibrin Barau, have been elected as Senate President and Deputy Senate President respectively.
