The House of Representatives declared the alleged inauguration of Nigeria Air during the final days of former President Muhammadu Buhari‘s administration as a fraudulent act.
Nnolim Nnaji, the Chairman of the House Committee on Aviation, labeled the purported launch of Nigeria Air as a fraud after key participants involved in the agreement between the Federal Government and Ethiopian Airlines denied any knowledge of such a launch.
In an attempt to shift the attention of lawmakers, the Ministry of Aviation argued that Nigeria Air had only been unveiled and not officially launched. However, the committee dismissed this explanation as a deliberate diversionary tactic.
The committee members were taken aback when the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) revealed that an aircraft adorned with Nigerian colors was en route to Nigeria on a chartered flight.
Additional stakeholders, affirming NAMA’s revelation, pointed out that a chartered flight can be painted with any color and bear any inscriptions, thus highlighting the potential for misleading appearances.
KanyiDaily had reported how the long-awaited Nigerian Air plane promised by President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration landed at the Abuja Airport on Friday morning, May 26, 2023.
