An African teenager has been arrested after a Nigerian man was stabbed during a robbery incident outside a bar in Switzerland.
It was gathered that the incident happened at approximately 7:15 p.m. on Monday in Basel, a city located near the borders of Germany and France.
According to witnesses, the altercation unfolded when the teenager attempted to steal a wallet from a passerby, escalating into a confrontation that quickly spiraled out of control.
“Everything happened very quickly, another man wanted to help the robbery victim. Then the person who wanted to help suddenly had a knife stuck in his thigh,” One bystander told 20 Minutes.
Emergency responders swiftly arrived at the scene and discovered a 37-year-old Nigerian man bleeding profusely in the street. He was immediately transported to the hospital in serious condition.
Law enforcement officers successfully apprehended one suspect, a 14-year-old Algerian, who was taken into custody.
However, a second suspect, described as a male in his 20s of North African descent, remains at large as of the latest available updates on Tuesday.
