President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has finally voiced his concerns regarding the suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in a recent interaction with Nigerians residing in France and neighboring European countries at the New Global Financing Pact Summit in Paris.
During his speech on June 23, President Tinubu openly criticized the state of the nation’s financial system under the leadership of the suspended Emefiele, describing it as rotten. He highlighted the difficulties faced by Nigerians abroad in sending money to their families due to the existence of multiple exchange rates, but expressed optimism that this issue is now a thing of the past.
“The financial system was rotten. A few individuals were amassing wealth while neglecting their responsibility to support our impoverished parents back home. However, that era is behind us. The man is now in the hands of the authorities, and appropriate measures are being taken to address the situation,” President Tinubu stated.
Kanyi Daily recalls that Emefiele was suspended from his position on June 9 and has since remained in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS).
