Seyi Makinde Finally Discloses Details Of G5 Meeting With Tinubu

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde has explained the reason behind the visit of the G5 Forum to President Bola Tinubu at the Aso Rock Villa on Thursday.

G5 Forum Meets Tinubu

The G5, which comprises five governors, four of whom are now immediate past governors on Thursday visited Tinubu and held a closed-door session with the president.

They are former Governors Nyesom Wike (Rivers), Samuel Ortom (Benue), Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia), and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu).

Makinde, who is the only current governor of the G5 said the group visited the president to brief him on the latest happenings and the forum’s stance on fairness, equity, and justice in the country.

The Oyo governor further acknowledged that nation-building is a difficult task and demands constant evaluation.

He said the G5 will keep meeting with the president on the way forward for the country.

Makinde while addressing state House correspondents said, “Nation building is a very difficult task. You have to keep evaluating, you know what you’re doing, where you’re going. So, we have to keep seeing the President, you know, to let him know what is happening.

“The G-5, the Integrity Group, came to let the President know what we stood for fairness, justice, and equity.”

This is the third time that Makinde would be visiting the President with some members of the group in the last one week.

The current governor of Enugu State, Peter Mbah was also present.

The G5 members all of whom are members of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) kicked against the emergence of the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar in the February 25 general elections.

The group wanted the return of power to Southern Nigeria.

In other news, Kanyi Daily reported that Nigerian singer, Simi has narrated the event that played out when she went to the passport office.

According to her, she was almost denied entry into the office because of how she dressed.
