Shehu Sani Commends Renaming Of Ebonyi, Kaduna Airports

Former Kaduna Senator, Shehu Sani has hailed the renaming of some federal government airports after some prominent figures in the country.

President Bola Tinubu on Monday renamed the national institutions as part of ongoing reforms in the aviation sector which are aimed at honouring the legacies of the individuals.

Some of the airports which were renamed are Maiduguri Airport named after the immediate past President, Muhammadu Buhari. The Port Harcourt Airport has been renamed after nationalist, Obafemi Awolowo. the Nasarawa Airport was named after the late founder of the Sokoto Caliphate, Usman Dan Fodio.

Others that received new names include Benin Airport, now named after the late Oba of Benin, Oba Akenzua II. The Ebonyi Airport has been dedicated to the memory of the late Senate President Chuba Okadigbo, while the Ibadan Airport honours the late Premier of the old Western Region, Ladoke Akintola while the Kaduna airport now bears the name of General Hassan Usman Katsina, amongst others.

In a tweet on his official handle, Shehu Sani said the renaming of the airports after the public figures were commendable.

He particularly commended the renaming of Ebonyi and Kaduna airports after Dr. Okadigbo and General Katsina respectively.

“Now that Ebonyi Airport is renamed after Dr. Chuba Okadigbo, that is the right thing.

“The naming of Kaduna International Airport after Gen Hassan Usman Katsina is also commendable.”

In other news, Kanyi Daily reported that Christine, the mother of 19-year-old British university student, Suleman, who died in the tragic Titanic submarine implosion together with her multi-millionaire husband, Shahzada Dawood, revealed how she escaped death from the doomed voyage.
