Shehu Sani Condemns Plans To Increase Tuition Fees In Federal Tertiary Institutions
Former Kaduna Senator, Shehu Sani has condemned the planned increase of tuition fees in federal tertiary institutions across the country following the signing of the Student Loan Bill by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
According to him, the bill would boost the educational pursuit of the youths across the country.
The development was widely celebrated in many quarters.
However, according to Daily Trust in a report published on Wednesday, the federal government is set to introduce tuition fees in federal universities, polytechnics, and other tertiary institutions.
The report said in Nigeria, tuition, which runs into hundreds of thousands of naira or even millions of naira in private universities, is free in government schools at both national and state levels.
Reacting to the planned development, Shehu Sani in a tweet on his official handle, said increasing or introducing tuition fees in federal tertiary institutions is a condemnable act.
Sani argued that there are enough resources to make education affordable to the children of the poor.
