Investigative Journalist, Kemi Olunloyo has warned Afrobeats superstar, Davido to leave Nigeria due to the backlash he is facing from the Muslim community.
KanyiDaily recalls that Davido has faced widespread criticism from Muslims after he took to his Twitter page and shared a music video for a song titled “Jaye Lo” by his signee, Logos Olori.
Some Muslim youths took to the streets of Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, to demonstrate their grievances against the music video which they deemed disrespectful to their religion.
Taking to her Instagram page, Kemi Olunloyo expressed concern over Davido’s life, stressing that she has received credible information regarding the legitimacy of the threats against him.
In a firm warning to the DMW Boss, Kemi advised him to disregard his fans’ opinions and take immediate action to leave the country, along with his new signee, Logos Lori.
The journalist emphasized that while his fans may currently be supporting and encouraging him, they might not stand up to protect him in the face of danger.
She stated that these very fans, who seem loyal now, could potentially be the first ones to share information about any harm that might befall him on social media.
Kemi Olunloyo wrote; “Davido leave Nigeria with your artist. Get him a visa ASAP. You are in danger in Nigeria. Big Danger. Apologize to Islam. I have credible information that these credible threats are realm I was very quiet during the Deborah case.
“I was dealing with the Oromoni threats which I now posted after 2 years. I was reading what this girl was writing on WhatsApp and vowed never to apologize. LEAVE!! LEAVE!! LEAVE!! Ignore your dáft fans saying it’s not your video.
“You wrote the concept. You paid $70k, even the video director needs protection. They are not even “begging on your behalf, the Nigerian way”. If these people harm you, these fans will be the first to post”.
Meanwhile, Nobel Laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka has defended Davido over the controversial video, and asked him not to apologize to the offended Muslim faithfuls.
