The Delta State Police has arrested the suspect, who disguised as an intending car buyer and stole a Mercedes Benz SUV from a car stand in Abuja.
The suspect, Meshack Sinuphro allegedly stole the car from the stand during a test drive on the 30th of June, 2023 in Abuja.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Delta State Police Command Spokesman, Bright Edafe.
Edafe said Meshack was arrested by the Command Decoy Squad in Benin City on Thursday.
According to him, the suspect will be transferred to the FCT police command soon.
The Delta police image maker had earlier said the command recovered the Mercedez Benz SUV abandoned in a bush along Oteri road by Doctors Quarters Ughelli North LGA.
He said a serious manhunt for the suspect had commenced.
He said, “Sequel to a complaint received on 3/7/2023 at about 1700hours from a car dealer (name withheld) in Abuja whose vehicle was stolen from his car stand by the suspect who disguised as intending buyer and absconded with the said vehicle during a test drive on 30/6/2023 in Abuja.
“Armed with available intelligence, operatives of the CP-Decoy Squad stormed Ughelli town at about 0115hours of 3/7/2023 and recovered the said Mercedez Benz SUV abandoned in a bush along Oteri road by Doctors Quarters Ughelli North LGA. Serious manhunt for the suspect is ongoing.”
Meanwhile, Kanyi Daily reported that the Delta State Police Command says it has arrested a 42-year-old pastor, Marvelous Ebangwe who specialises in trafficking young girls to African countries.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Wale Abass disclosed this in a statement posted on the command’s Twitter handle.
