Former Senator from Kaduna State, Shehu Sani has described the nomination of immediate past Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai as a minister by President Bola Tinubu, as a “tragedy.”
He stated this during an interview on Arise TV News which is making the rounds on social media on Friday.
Kanyi Daily reported President Tinubu’s long-awaited ministerial list was on Thursday, presented to the Senate with the name of the former Kaduna Governor among the nominees.
Sani, who is also the President of the Civil Rights Congress and human rights activist, argued that it is not the time for Tinubu to please and appease former governors.
He said, rather it is time to appease Nigerians and bring in competent hands.
Shehu Sani said, “In the nomination which I have seen, the one that represented Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, is a tragedy.
“That such a man is given an opportunity again to serve this country with all he has done and said in the office, I don’t think President Tinubu means well.
“This is not the best time to please and appease former governors but the best time to appease Nigerians and bring in competent hands that will deliver.
“As far as I am concerned, that list to some large extent is a big disappointment or meet expectations taking the time it took for those names to come out.”
In other news, France’s foreign minister, Catherine Colonna on Friday, said Niger’s President, Mohamed Bazoum is in “good health” even though he has been in detention since Wednesday by coup plotters.
