Nigerian songstress, Simisola Kosoko, popularly known as Simi, has addressed the speculations surrounding her relationship with rapper, Falz The Bahd Guy.
During a recent interview on MTV Base Africa’s “Official Naija Top 10,” Simi clarified that she and Falz were never romantically involved.
Falz and Simi collaborated on songs like “JAMB Question Remix” and “Soldier,” which received a positive response from fans.
While fans speculated they were in a romantic relationship, Simi said she recognized the strong musical synergy between her and Falz, leading to the creation of their joint album titled “Chemistry.”
She also revealed that it was the fans who provided the name and concept for the album, perceiving their connection as something beyond just a musical partnership.
The singer, however, emphasized that their connection was purely professional, and any rumors suggesting otherwise were misconstrued by fans who misinterpreted their relationship.
Simi also emphasized that throughout their collaboration journey, she and Falz never promoted or claimed to be in a romantic relationship.
She said, “He [Falz] did a verse on my song, ‘JAMB Question Remix’. And I was like, ‘Ah! Me and this guy, there is a vibe there.’ So, we did ‘Soldier’, and everybody was like, the chemistry is so amazing.
“We never saw that. People bought what we were not selling. And we were like, okay, this is a strategy. So, we did ‘Chemistry’ the album. People gave us the name and the idea. We never actually came and say, oh, we are dating.”
KanyiDaily recalls that Simi also revealed that she dumped gospel music because churches used to pay her a meagre sum of N5,000 to N10,000 for her performances.
