The Rivers State Police Command on Tuesday said it has arrested the officers captured in a viral video assaulting a man in the Oyigbo Area of the State.
This is just as the state Commissioner of Police, Nwonyi Polycarp Emeka has also condemned the action of the officers.
A statement issued by the Spokesperson of the command, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, and posted on the command’s Twitter handle, said the policemen are currently at the command undergoing trial for their “unprofessional act which will serve as a deterrent to other police personnel.”
The statement called on the victim to come forward to the Public Relations Department of the command to give his statement to aid the conclusion of the investigations, noting that his identity will be protected.
“The commissioner of Police assures members of the public, that the police operatives will be investigated in line. with extant rules underlying the conduct of police personnel and appropriate sanctions meted accordingly.
“The command further assures the good people of Rivers State of its unalloyed commitment to promoting the rule of law,” the statement reads.

Meanwhile, Kanyi Daily reported that the Lagos State Police Command has arrested one Ahmed Ayinde, suspected to have stolen a Suzuki mini bus, popularly called ‘Korope’.
Ayinde was apprehended while attempting to sell it along Isolo Road, Mushin without documents.
