Former Kaduna Senator, Shehu Sani has called on the Kaduna State Government and the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) to come to the aid of an ex-Nigerian International, Daniel Joshua who has been bedridden for 15 years in the state following a spinal cord injury.
Joshua sustained the injury as a result of the car crash that happened when he was driving to the Minna Eagles camp, on the invitation of the NFF.
Sani made the call when he paid a courtesy visit to the ex-footballer in Kaduna on Monday.
In a tweet on his official handle on Tuesday, the former lawmaker disclosed that the Niger State Government under former Governor, Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu had paid for the ex-player’s treatment to a certain point but stopped.
According to him, the NFF only gave the player the sum of N500k and abandoned him to his fate.
Sani lamented that the ex-international suspended signing for foreign clubs who would have paid him millions of euros because he wanted to play for his country but unfortunately, has been neglected by the sporting authorities of the same country.
“The MON National honours award holder scored a major goal in the Korea 2007 World Cup victory.
“Our Government demands for patriotism from our Sportsmen and Women and abandons them in their moments of need.
“This new Government and the new leadership of the @thenff should come to his aid and others in similar situations,” Shehu Sani wrote.

In other news, Kanyi Daily reported that the Kebbi State Governor, Nasiru Idris has fired his Special Adviser on Youths, Babangida Sarki for posting pornography on his Whatsapp status.
Sarki was said to have posted homosexual pornography on his WhatsApp status on Sunday.
