On August 14, 2015, Skiibii was said to have collapsed and died in his sitting room after getting dressed to meet scheduled appointments aimed at promoting his new song.

A few hours after the rumored death, Skiibii’s former label, Five Star Music, released a statement saying that he was found with no pulse and wasn’t breathing, but they rushed him to the hospital where he was revived.

While some music critics said the rumored death could be a stunt for Skiibii to trend on social media and promote his new song, others insisted that the singer actually suffered a cardiac arrest.

On July 14, 2019, Skiibii confirmed that he did fake his death in 2015 because people were not appreciating his musical talent and he was forced to do something that literally evoked emotions and made him popular.

The singer said he was frustrated because inasmuch as he tried to put his talent out there for the people to see, no one was seeing the beauty of his musical prowess and he was desperate to do anything.

However, in a recent interview on Wednesday, July 5, 2023, Skiibii denied faking his death, saying he was struggling with a medical condition that would frequently cause him to lose consciousness.

The singer recounted several instances where this condition affected him, even at the airport, and admitted that it made him contemplate giving up on his dreams, especially when news of his supposed death began to spread.

Skiibii, who lamented the difficulty he faced in dealing with the circumstances, shared how the incident profoundly impacted his career and how he managed to overcome it by maintaining his momentum.

He stated that notable figures in the music industry, including Davido and Wizkid, paid tribute to him during that challenging time, adding that he also managed to brush off a scathing shade from rapper Falz in one of his songs.

However, in the midst of it all and after almost giving up on his music career, Skiibii said he found the courage to push through, faced his hustle, and has ever since propelled to new musical heights.
