Nigerian Afrobeats singer, Rema has made a bold statement about the importance of quality and respect for his fans by rescheduling his show in Atlanta, United States.
During his ‘Rave & Roses’ Tour on Thursday, July 27, Rema reschedule his show in Atlanta after refusing to perform due to the poor state of the venue.
The singer, who took the stage at The Tabernacle around 10 pm, encountered multiple issues that led him to stop his performance twice after a long delay.
Rema performed only two songs before expressing his dissatisfaction with the ventilation inside the venue, followed by concerns about the sound quality.
When Rema stopped his performance the first time, he asked fans if they wanted him to keep going. There was a unanimous “yes” decision by the audience.
Even though the fans didn’t have a problem with the sound quality and wanted Rema to continue performing, he still abruptly decided to end the show because he felt that they deserved better.
In a video circulating on social media, Rema could be seen addressing his fans, emphasizing that Afrobeats is a significant genre that should be treated with respect.
The singer refused to compromise on the quality of his performance and rescheduled the show, stressing that he doesn’t tolerate any disrespect to his fans.
“Afrobeats is way too big to look like this. I don’t take no rubbish and I respect my fans. I’m going to reschedule this show because they have disrespected me and disrespected Afrobeats by treating you guys like this,” Rema said before leaving the stage.
