Days after a massive flood incident in the area, residents of Trademore Estate, along the Lugbe-Airport axis of the FCT on Monday, protested the planned demolition of the estate by the FCT Administration.

Recall that the estate had witnessed a catastrophic flood incident after heavy rainfall in the early hours of Friday, the 23rd of June.

One person was reportedly killed in the disaster.

Reports say the FCT administration had declared the Trademore Estate a disaster zone.

It added that the decision followed the “consistent and persistent” threat of flooding in the Estate, and urged residents to promptly evacuate.

But resident, however, came out on Monday morning to protest the decision and called on the FCT administration to instead provide engineering solutions, than demolish houses.

Some of the residents held placards that read “Provide engineering solutions, not roadside approach”, “put an end to senseless killing”, “Trademore Estate is not a disaster zone”, etc.
