Nollywood actress, Debbie Shokoya has opened up about the heart-wrenching experience of losing her eight-month-old child shortly before she put to bed.
In a video shared on her YouTube channel, Debbie Shokoya narrated the painful story of her pregnancy loss, an ordeal that occurred a month ago while she was in the United States.
The actress recounted her journey with the hopeful anticipation of returning home with her beloved baby. Tragically, she found herself grappling with the unimaginable loss of her unborn child who was set set to be born.
With a heavy heart, Debbie expressed her gratitude for the support of her family during this trying time. She revealed that their encouragement has been instrumental in helping her find the strength to navigate the complex process of grieving and moving forward.
She appealed to others to refrain from making harsh judgments. She emphasized that her decision to speak about her loss is a personal one, and she urged people to choose their words with care, given the sensitivity of the situation.
Debbie, who spoke amidst tears, asked for respect regarding her marriage, emphasizing that it’s a deeply personal matter. She requested that assumptions about her marriage remain private.
She partly said, “Almost everyone knows that Debbie Shokoya is pregnant and expecting and with all glory to God, I lost my child at 8 months.
“That’s to tell you that I choose to speak on what I want to speak about. If I don’t want to speak about it, I wouldn’t talk about it.
“Be careful what you will say cause words are sensitive. I am a mother, I carried my child for 8 months. I sacrificed a lot for my child, I know what I went through. How I traveled with the joy of coming back with my child, but God understands right?
“It’s not easy, I carried my child for 8 months, bonded with my child but lost my child”.
“I was rushed to the emergency, and it was when we discovered the child wasn’t moving anymore and they got me induced, and I gave birth to my child dead, I carried my child death.
“Imagine a child I sacrificed so much for, I have been going through a lot, and I didn’t tell anyone because I wanted to grieve my own way. I’m getting over it gradually.
“Please, the public should respect my marriage, it is personal. Keep all assumptions about my marriage to yourselves.”
