JUST IN: APC NEC Appoints Abdullahi Ganduje As National Chairman

The immediate past Governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje has been appointed as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Also appointed was the spokesperson for the ninth Senate, Senator Ajibola Basiru as the party’s National Secretary.

They were ratified on Thursday at the ongoing NEC meeting of the party holding at Transcorp Hilton.

The duo will now take over from immediate past National Chairman of the ruling party, Senator Abdullahi Adamu and former National Secretary, Iyiola Omisore.

They decision was taken barely an hour after President Bola Tinubu arrived at the NEC meeting.

The President arrived at the Congress Hall of the hotel surrounded by stern-looking security operatives suspected to be officers of the Department of State Services at about 11.35am.

Reports say following the announcement of their appointments, supporters of Ganduje and Basiru broke into jubilation that almost disrupted the programme temporarily.

Among the dignitaries that arrived early for the NEC meeting were Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello; former governor of Osun State and pioneer chairman of APC, Chief Bisi Akande; acting National Chairman of the party, Senator Abubakar Kyari; former Governor of Kano State, Dr Abdullahi Ganduje and Spokesperson for the ninth Senate, Senator Ajibola Basiru.

Meanwhile, Kanyi Daily reported how Ganduje was tipped as national chairman of the party after meeting Tinubu and three governors who are members of the APC.
