PHOTOS: ECOWAS Delegation Arrives Niamey, Holds Talks With Coup Leaders
The ECOWAS delegation sent to Niger Republic by its Chairman, Bola Tinubu has arrived in Niamey, the capital of the country.
The delegation, headed by former Nigerian Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar was dispatched with a mandate to resolve the current political impasse in the West African restive nation.
Tinubu’s action was in line with the resolution reached at the end of the extraordinary summit of the ECOWAS held last Sunday in Abuja.
Abdulsalami was accompanied by Muhammadu Abubakar, the Sultan of Sokoto, and Alieu Touray, president of the ECOWAS commission.
The new military government in Niger is led Chief of Niger’s presidential guard, General Abdourahamane Tiani.
Meanwhile, Kanyi Daily reported that Nigerians on social media giant, X have reacted to the unique nickname of “Ebola Tinubu” given to Nigerian President, Bola Tinubu by protesters in Niger Republic.
The protesters, mostly youths ridiculed Tinubu with the nickname to express their discontent over his response to the recent coup in their country.
