Banditry is one of the major security challenges that has for years bedevilled Nigeria’s North West, particularly Kaduna state.
In April 2023, the Kaduna state government said bandits killed 214 persons and abducted 746 others between January and March this year.
The immediate past commissioner for internal security and home affairs, Samuel Aruwan, reeled out the figures while presenting the 2023 first quarter security report to the former Governor of the state, Nasir El-Rufai.
According to Aruwan, Kaduna Central senatorial district recorded the highest number of casualties with 115 deaths followed by the Kaduna South and Kaduna North senatorial districts with 61 and 38 deaths respectively.
In other news, Kanyi Daily reported that Spokesperson for the Senate, Yemi Adaramodu on Tuesday, said the red chamber may re-invite the immediate past Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai and two other ministerial nominees yet to be confirmed for re-screening.
Adaramodu disclosed this on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily programme.
