Former presidential aide, Reno Omokri has expressed sympathy for rapper Naira Marley, in the wake of allegations linking him to the death of his ex-signee, Mohbad.
KanyiDaily recalls that Reno Omokri recently granted an interview to Naira Marley who was accused of bullying and harassing Mohad to his untimely death.
In the interview, Naira Marley denied any involvement in Mohbad’s death, stressing that the late singer was struggling with suicidal thoughts before his demise.
Concerned about Mohbad’s well-being, Naira Marley recounted another incident where he received a distress call from Mohbad’s girl, reporting a suicide attempt.
The rapper, who has been out of the country, said he would only return to Nigeria to assist in the investigation if the police could guarantee his safety.
Reacting to the criticism he faced for the interview, Reno Omokri clarified that he sought to get Naira Marley’s perspective on the allegations, emphasizing the importance of presenting both sides of a story to avoid a one-sided narrative.
“I know what it means to be falsely accused. I’m not saying he’s being falsely accused, but I wanted to get the other side of the story because there is a danger in a one-sided story,” he said.
Recounting his personal experiences during his tenure as a Presidential spokesman, where he was falsely reported as sacked multiple times, Omokri expressed empathy for those facing challenging circumstances, including Naira Marley.
Addressing rumors of payment for the interview, Omokri clarified that everyone deserves the right to be heard, and he sought to provide a platform for Naira Marley to present his side of the story.
The former presidential aide urged people to listen to the interview, make up their minds, and emphasize his commitment to seeking the truth with faith guiding his actions.
He vehemently refuted any claims of financial involvement with Naira Marley, saying “You have to understand that people deserve a right to be heard. They don’t deserve a right to be believed, but they deserve a right to be heard.
“And for those people who are saying that Naira Marley paid me. Listen, if Naira Marley paid me, let’s have a spiritual pact, may God punish me and may I never progress if that is true but if that is a lie may God find you out and give you the judgement that you deserve.
“People deserve to be heard and I’ve put out the interview there. Listen to it, make up your own mind,” Reno Omokri said.
Omokri claimed that he had sought out Naira Marley to allow him to present his side of the story and that he would continue to do so, with faith guiding his actions.
