Maduka Zachary, a chieftain of the Labour Party in Abia State, has tragically lost his life in a gruesome incident where he was beheaded in his own home.
The horrific event unfolded on Tuesday night in Zachary’s hometown of Uturu, Abia State, where unidentified assailants brutally slaughtered him and took away his head.
Zachary held the position of campaign director for the Labour Party in Uturu, Abia State, and also served as the campaign director for Amobi Ogah, the House of Representatives member representing Isuikwuato/Umunneochi federal constituency.
When contacted, the Abia State Police spokesperson, Moureen Chinaka, said that she had not yet received detailed information about the incident.
However, Ceekay Igara, the Chairman of the Labour Party in Abia, confirmed the tragic event.
Igara said that the incident might be linked to the prevailing insecurity in the region, noting that Zachary had been a staunch advocate for combating insecurity and cultism in the area.
”I have spoken with the Chairman of our party in the LGA and he confirmed it. He said it might not be unconnected with insecurity because the man was strong in the fight against insecurity and cultism in that region,” Igara said.
KanyiDaily had also reported how armed men suspected to be cultists beheaded a Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Bako Amgbanshin, in Rivers State.
