Stefano Pioli, manager of AC Milan, has explained why he started Samuel Chukwueze in his team’s UEFA Champions League match against Newcastle United on Tuesday night.
The game at the San Siro concluded in a scoreless draw, with the hosts squandering a few of clear-cut chances.
Chukwueze was named to the starting lineup for the first time since joining the Rooseneri in the summer from LaLiga club Villarreal.
The 24-year-old played 61 minutes before being substituted by Christian Pulisic.

Pioli revealed why he decided to begin the Nigeria international.
“Chukwueze is quick and good in one-on-one situations, taking on a tall and physical full-back with a different pace than him.”
