Ahmed Ololade, better known as Asake, a popular singer, has disclosed why he uses his mother’s name as his stage name.
“My stage name comes from my mother. People used to call me ‘omo Asake,’ which means ‘child of Asake,’ when I was in the cultural group. And it just stuck after a time. People stopped adding ‘omo’ and just said ‘Asake.’ “I thought it was cool, so I went with it,” he explained.
The singer stated that he chose the stage name because it was cool.
Asake revealed this in Pause Magazine’s Autium 2023 issue.
He also stated that he would continue to perform in Yoruba.
“It is very important to me, and I am not going to lose it. It is what has brought me this far, and I continue to keep it that way,” he said.
