Li Keqiang, the former Chinese Prime Minister, has died.
Kegiang, 68, passed away in the early hours of Friday.
He died in Shanghai after having a heart attack, according to the state news agency.
Kegiang suffered a heart attack late Thursday and died on Friday after resuscitation attempts failed.
Kegiang stepped down as premier in March after serving for ten years under Chinese President Xi Jinping.
On July 1, 1955, he was born in Dingyuan, Anhui’s eastern province, as the son of a functionary.

During the Cultural Revolution in 1974, Kegiang and other intellectuals were forced to flee to the countryside.
He studied law at Peking University and obtained a doctorate in economics as one of just 3% of all applicants who were admitted.
Xi effectively sidelined Kegiang, who was subsequently replaced by Li Qiang in March.
For years, there have been rumours regarding his health.
