Liya, the former first lady of DMW (Davido Music Worldwide), has opened up about the reasons behind her sudden departure from the record label.
During a recent podcast interview, Liya explained that her departure was primarily motivated by her belief that DMW wasn’t providing the necessary attention and backing for her musical career.
Despite releasing notable singles like “Lakiriboto” and “Melo” during her time with DMW, Liya felt that her career was not receiving the recognition and support it deserved.
She expressed the desire to start anew and pursue her own musical journey in a different direction.
Even after leaving DMW, Liya made it clear that she continues to have respect and admiration for the label’s current lineup of artists and their creative pursuits.
She emphasised her continued support for DMW and its emerging talents, wishing them success in their musical endeavors.
“I wanted to start afresh and carve my own musical path in a different direction,” she said. “I’m not saying that DMW is a bad label. They have a lot of talented artists. But I felt like I needed to be in a place where I could get more attention and support for my music.”
