Joseph Aloba, the father of the late Nigerian singer Mohbad, has addressed the ongoing debate about a DNA test for his grandson, Liam.
During an interview with BBC Pidgin, Joseph Aloba also ahared insights into Mohbad’s life, including his relationship with a stepmother and the singer’s journey into music.
Mohbad’s father described his late son as more than family, emphasizing their close relationship as friends.
He revealed that Mohbad, from a young age, aspired to follow in his musical footsteps, often participating as a backup singer or dancer at events.
Speaking further during the interview, Aloba revealed that Mohbad was his reason for having more than one wife after the singer’s mother left him.
The late singer’s father explained that Mohbad’s stepmother initially embraced their family dynamic but eventually felt excluded.
According to him, she asked him to choose between her and his son, and Aloba chose Mohbad, leading to the stepmother’s departure.
Addressing the ongoing discussions about a DNA test for Mohbad’s son, Aloba emphasized that the matter had become a widespread concern.
He urged that the right steps be taken at the appropriate time, stating, “This thing has become a majority thing, not only Nigeria. So they should do the proper thing at the proper time.”
