Divine Ikubor, better known as Rema, a famous musician, has stated that many of his colleagues are mimicking his branding and musical style.
In a recent interview with Rollingstone, the ‘Calm Down’ singer stated that while many who mimic him do not give credit, he is “flattered” that people are getting inspiration from him.
He stated that changing the afrobeats music landscape has always been his dream.
“I’ve been on the road for four years straight, dropping bangers and hopping on stages,” Rema explained. It has continuously aided my development.

“As much as vacation is necessary, I don’t like being idle.” I have a lot of ideas for how to develop this [afrobeats] sound. I’ve always been the guy that wants to change the guy and the way the game is regarded. Everything from sound to events to branding is covered.
“Even though some artists will not give me credit, I know how many people [artists] have copied my moves and I am flattered by it.”
