Rivers State Police Command has announced the arrest of a woman, Godlove Olakada, who allegedly poured her husband boiling water during a domestic dispute in the Agbonchia community, situated in the Eleme Local Government Area of the state.
The conflict started when the woman accused her husband, Ejire, of withholding N15,000 intended to be shared among them and their children from dividends received from the local community, leading to a heated altercation.
This incident occurred less than a week after another woman, Hope Nwala, poured hot groundnut oil on her husband while he was sleeping after a disagreement in Okehi, located in the Etche Local Government Area of the state.
In a recent incident, an eyewitness disclosed that the mother of two inflicted the scalding on her husband’s face and attempted to escape.
The source who spoke on the condition of anonymity said, “Thereafter she took the man’s ATM card and attempted to flee with it, but youths in the area got hold of the woman and handed her over to the police.”
The spokesperson for the state police command, Grace Iringe-Koko confirmed the incident in a statement released on Monday. The woman is currently in police custody.
The statement read, “Operatives of the Rivers State Police Command, through credible intelligence, have arrested one Godslove Olakada from Agbonchia Eleme on Saturday, October 14, 2023, around 8.30pm for pouring hot water on her husband, one Olakada Ejire.
“The cause was a domestic family issue. An investigation has commenced to get to the root of the matter.”
KanyiDaily recalls that Delta State Police Command also arrested a woman for allegedly burning to death a young man identified as Sunday over a paltry debt of N200 in Effurun, Uwvie L.G.A.
