Terna Tarka, the estranged husband of Big Brother Naija reality show star Venita Akpofure, has refuted his ex-wife’s divisive remark regarding Tiv men.
According to the report, Venita provoked outrage after claiming on the reality show that “Tiv men give their wives to visitors for entertainment purposes.”
Her ex-husband has now come forward to refute the claim, claiming that he never subjected her to such practises and emphasising that no Tiv men do such things.
Tarka may be heard stating in a video circulating on social media, “I’m here today to address a very controversial narrative that has been making the rounds all over social media and the news.” This is in response to the claim that when Tiv men entertain guests, they give their wives to them for pleasure.
“As a proud Tiv man born into one of the most prominent families to come out of the Middle Belt region and the first grandson of Joseph Tarka, I would like to categorically state that the thought of such a derogatory practise has never crossed my mind in all my years of hosting my guests.” As a result, such an event never occurred.

“Being from a prominent Tiv family, it’s easy to become the target of this matter’s backlash.” On the other hand, I am in a position to speak for the Tiv people when I claim unequivocally that such a practise has never occurred or existed inside the Tiv culture, or any other Nigerian culture for that matter.
“Our supreme ruler, His Royal Highness, Prof. James Ayaste, has addressed this issue.” Tiv males are highly protective of their wives and daughters, I can guarantee you. I highly advise you not to trespass, otherwise you will face the consequences.”
Meanwhile, Venita has apologised to Tivs for her “careless” remark.
