Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri emerged victorious in his hometown’s polling unit during the governorship election.
Diri, the candidate representing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the governorship election, registered at polling unit 004 in his hometown, Sampou.
He secured 218 out of 219 votes at the polling unit. The ADP received one vote, while all other political parties didn’t receive any votes.
Governor Diri is seeking re-election for a second term, His main rival, Timipre Sylva of the All Progressives Congress (APC), received zero votes according to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announcement.
The outcome revealed a low voter turnout, with just 219 out of the 750 registered voters presenting themselves for accreditation at the polling unit.
Voting at the polling unit occurred under strict security measures along all roads leading to the governor’s hometown.
