Following Arsenal’s 1-0 loss to Newcastle in the Premier League on Saturday, manager Mikel Arteta slammed VAR.
Anthony Gordon scored a controversial winner in the second half to end Arsenal’s unbeaten start to the season.
The goal was reviewed by VAR for four minutes, during which the officials determined that the ball had not crossed the line, Joelinton did not foul Gabriel Magalhaes, and Gordon was not offside.

Arteta was enraged by the decision after the game.
“I congratulated my players on how they performed and competed in this stadium against this team.” There are numerous reasons why the outcome should not be what it is. Arsenal was the team that wanted to win the game today.
“It’s embarrassing what happened—how this goal stands in the Premier League, which we claim is the best in the world.” I’ve been in this country for 20 years and I’m embarrassed. It’s a travesty, and there’s far too much at stake.
“The outcome is nowhere near the level that this league requires, and the way that this league is being competed in.” It is insufficient. “I’m embarrassed to be a part of this,” Arteta admitted to BBC MOTD.
