Governor Hope Uzodimma, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the current Imo State off-season election, expressed satisfaction with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for their handling of the ongoing election.
He praised the state’s residents, particularly those in his community, for their significant turnout in casting their votes.
Uzodimma also extended commendations to the security personnel for maintaining a peaceful and secure environment during the election process.
Over two million voters are eligible to vote in Saturday’s gubernatorial election.
It features candidates from 18 political parties, although the focus remains on a three-horse race between the incumbent governor, Hope Uzodinma of the APC, Samuel Anyanwu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Athan Achonu of LP.
According to INEC, there are 2,419,922 registered voters in the state, but only 2,318,919 of them collected their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and are thereby eligible to cast their votes in the election.
The number of registered voters is 6.5 percent more than the 2,272,293 recorded for the previous 2019 elections in the southeastern state.
