Shehu Sani, the former Senator from Kaduna Central, likened merging People’s Democratic Party (PDP) with Labour Party (LP) supporters to fitting a Ferrari engine into a Peugeot vehicle.
Shehu Sani stated this in a tweet via his X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday.
According to him, combining the PDP with the dynamic, energetic Labor supporters would be comparable to installing a Ferrari engine in a Peugeot.
The former lawmaker stated, “Merging PDP with the young, agile, and restless Labor supporters will be like fixing a Ferrari engine into a project.”
Recall, that reports were speculating about a potential merger between the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and the Labour Party.
The Labour Party swiftly refuted the rumor, advising Nigerians to dismiss any news suggesting that the party is in the process of merging with another political party.
Mr Obiora Ifoh, National Publicity Secretary, Labour Party, made this known in a statement on Thursday in Abuja.
Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the PPD, had earlier urged opposition parties to unite and prevent Nigeria from heading towards a one-party state.
According to Ifoh, it is solely a news item manipulated and sensationalized by a certain section of the media to bring embarrassment to the party.
His words: “In my reaction, I said that it was only a proposal that every Nigerian should be interested in making democracy work and that what we have presently is an autocracy.
“There was nowhere in the response that the purported merger between LP and PDP was mentioned,” he said.
Ifoh said that the Labour Party (LP) had recently wrapped up the 2023 general election, and a post-mortem analysis was still pending.
He said that the way forward for the party had not been discussed.
“When we do, Nigerians will be properly informed,” he said.
Kanyi Daily recalls that former Senator representing Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani had urged the judges of the Supreme Court to seek divine guidance through prayer to resolve the issue of President Bola Tinubu’s certificate.
