Daniel Okafor, the second son of ailing Nollywood actor, John Okafor, popularly known as Mr Ibu, has refuted the allegations made by his stepmother, Stella Maris, concerning the control of the bank account where donations are being received.
KanyiDaily had reported that Stella Marris and Mr Ibu’s adopted daughter, Chioma Jasmine are in conflict over the funds donated by well-meaning Nigerians for the actor’s failing health.
Popular Instagram blogger, Gistlover, reported that Mr Ibu’s wife desires to divert the donation funds to support her lifestyle, including purchasing an iPhone 15 and new cars.
Gistlover alleged that Stella had already managed to extract N1 million from the donation through her personal account.
In response to these accusations, Stella accused Jazmine of being behind the rumor, stressing that she does not have access to Mr. Ibu’s bank account.
Stella claimed that Jasmine was attempting to force her out of her marriage, noting that the latter has taken charge of Mr Ibu’s bank account.
When contacted by The Punch, Jasmine said: “I do not want to be involved with the online drama, at least not yet. I am more concerned for Daddy’s well-being.”
She, however, directed the news publication to reach out to the actor’s second son, who introduced himself as Daniel Okafor.
He said, “My name is Daniel Okafor; I am John Okafor’s second son. There is no truth in what Stella Maris has been sharing online.
“Jasmine does not have access to that account; I have access to it. I am the signatory to the account and my father’s next of kin.”
Daniel confirmed Stella Maris as his stepmother but chose not to disclose further details about his mother.
“She is my stepmother. My mother is not around at the moment,” he said.
KanyiDaily recalls that Stella Marris had previously clashed with Chioma Jasmine when Mr Ibu’s wife alleged that her husband was having a sexual affair with his adopted daughter.
